How To Plan For Your Next Woman's Luncheon

by Levi Ortiz

Are you involved in a club or organization that meets for lunch? Perhaps you simply have a group of friends that takes turns hosting luncheons in homes. Either way, if your turn to host your friends is coming up, from invitations to serving lunch on kaiser rolls, here are some ideas to make your event unique and memorable.

The Invitations - You've probably already discovered that using the phone can be frustrating, as you often have to leave a message that may not be returned. Emailing an invitation works of  course. However, think about sending a message through the mail, as it's always fun to get personal letters.

  • Think of picking a theme for your luncheon. For example, if you pick a western theme, think of sending an invitation with a picture of a famous cowboy or cowgirl on the front of the invite. Go with a classic like Dale Evans or go with a handsome movie star like Clint Eastwood.
  • For something really unique, encourage your friends to wear clothes that will go with the theme. If you've gone with a western theme, that'll be easy since most people already own jeans.
  • Don't forget to put an RSVP contact number or email address on the invitation. That will help you to know how many guests will be coming to lunch.

The Table Decor - If  you've selected a theme for your luncheon, follow that theme on your table decorations. Think outside of the box.

  • Even if you choose the center of the table to be your focal point, have decorations in other strategic places, too.
  • For example, if you choose a Hawaiian theme for your luncheon, you could place a small ceramic pineapple at each place. The gals could later take the pineapples home as party favors.
  • Consider using paper plates and other disposable tableware. Besides the fact that there are attractive patterns available, you may be setting a precedent for future luncheons. You'll probably be a hero if you show the other gals that simplicity can still be lovely.

The Food - Since you're making your event a unique one, think of different ways you can serve traditional foods. Go with kaiser rolls! (For more information, contact companies like Klosterman Baking Company.)

  • For example, chicken salad on a croissant is good, but it's not very original. Think about using kaiser rolls instead of the croissants.
  • Are you establishing a Mexican mood? Again, instead of using tortillas for your fajitas, pull out heated kaiser rolls which will hold a lot of food.
  • You can even use kaiser rolls for your dessert. Sprinkle open rolls with cinnamon and sugar, bake them till crisp and then serve them with ice cream on top. Pass different toppings to go on the ice cream.

Think of taking pictures of the group at your luncheon. You can frame them and use them as little gifts for birthdays or at Christmastime.
